Early Life
Burrow was born in Ames, Ohio, on December 10, 1996. His father, Jim, took Burrow to the 2002 Rose Bowl because Jim was the University of Nebraska’s assistant coach. From that point on, Burrow fell in love with American football and made it his goal to play in the National Football League (NFL).
Burrow attended Athens High School in The Plains, Ohio, from 2011 to 2014, where he helped the school reach three consecutive playoffs. Burrow was awarded the state’s Mr. Football Award and the Gatorade Player of the Year in his senior year. Scouts rated Burrow as a four-star recruit and the eighth-best dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2015.
Education
The young Burrow attended Ohio State in 2015 but had to redshirt his first year. He then spent two years as the backup to J. T. Barrett, who ultimately went undrafted in 2018. With limited playing opportunities, Burrow transferred to Lousiana State University (LSU) as a graduate, having earned a consumer and family financial services degree in three years at Ohio State.
Football Career
Burrow’s college football career took off after transferring to LSU, where he became the team’s starting quarterback. In his first season in LSU colors, he played 13 games and threw 2,894 passing yards and 16 touchdowns. The following season, Burrow played 15 games and threw a career-best 5,671 yards and an incredible 60 touchdowns, achieving a league-best 202.0 passer rating.
